MSN Auto voted the new Stingray and the new Silverado autos of the year.
As is the case every year, the Detroit Auto Show kicks off with the announcement of the winners of the annual North American Car and Truck of the Year (NACTOY). It was a happy day for Chevrolet, winning Car of the Year with the exciting Corvette Stingray and Truck of the Year with the all-new Silverado pickup truck. This was the first time in history that Chevrolet has earned both car and truck awards in the same year. But both vehicles are previous winners; Corvette was the top car in 1998, Silverado was top truck in 2007.
General Motors had the deck stacked, with two of three nominees for cars with the Cadillac CTS and Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Mazda rounded out the group with the Mazda3.
On the truck side, the Silverado beat out two strong competitors: the Jeep Cherokee and the Acura MDX.

"Chevrolet is in the midst of the most aggressive product transformation in the brand's more than 100-year history," said Alan Batey, General Motors senior vice president of Global Chevrolet. "The Corvette and Silverado truly embody the passion, commitment and focus that is driving us to deliver the most expressive designs, innovative technologies and engaging performance in every vehicle that wears the bowtie."
The NACTOY awards were first given in 1994 and are considered to be unique in North America because the winners are chosen by a jury of automotive journalists representing multiple outlets rather than reflecting the views of just one publication. The awards are designed to recognize the best vehicles of the year based on factors including innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar. To be eligible, vehicles must be "all new" or "substantially changed."
Winners in 2013 were the Cadillac ATS and Ram 1500.
Do you like the new Silverado style? Still on the fence about it. It took me a little bit to get used to the last model (end up buying one though and love it!), so i'm sure ill be investing in the new model eventually!
